Overview
Porsche announced the Targa on Porsche web-TV on 18th May 2020. The Targa is one of Porsche’s most unique flagship models. Originally, the Targa was designed as a safety cabriolet in 60’s, fast forward to 2020 and it has become a design icon in the world of sports cars. A host of new technology now standard in this 911, such as the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) system is standard on both models. With the new Targa, it is conciderably faster over the predecessor, rocketing from 0-62mph in 4.4 seconds in the Targa 4 and 3.8 seconds in the Targa 4S. The Targa 4 comes with a powerful 385PS flat-six vs the Targa 4S with 450PS. If both cars are fitted with a Sports Chrono Package, the 0-62mph goes down to 4.2 Seconds in the Targa 4 and 3.6 seconds in the Targa 4S.
The 992 design of the Targa is as beautiful as ever, and was also released with Porsche’s Targa Heritage Edition. The Heritage version of the car took inspiration from the 911’s of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s and 80’s. It was available in unique colours: Cherry Metallic, GT Silver Metallic, Black, Guards Red, Crayon, or a colour to sample. Unless a buyer opted to remove the decals, this special 911 also has classic designed, personalised start number on the side, a graphic on the front wings and side to reminisce of the racing 356’s and gold-coloured “Porsche” and “Targa” model logos. On top of the design differences, it has 30hp more than the Targa 4S, at 480PS, meaning in the PDK it goes from 0-62mph in as little as 3.5 seconds. This collector’s piece was limited to just 992 being built world-wide.
