Overview
In 2009, the Cayman received a face-lift. The 987.2 comes with an entirely new engine. Previous to this version, the Cayman was outfitted with a 2.7l flat-six producing 242hp, this new version had a 2.9l producing 265hp, so approx 20hp increase. This translates to a higher performance in 0-62mph times (6.1 seconds previous to then 5.8seconds in the manual).
To the untrained eye, you may notice very little differences in the 2005 and 2009 versions, when having 2 side-by-side, it almost feels like a game of “spot the difference”. To a Porsche enthusiast however, you would be noticing changes in many areas, the design differences are found in the new front and rear ends, new headlights with integrated indicators, the rear lights change to LED lights, new air intakes and rear panels.
How to spot
- Headlights inspired by the Carrera GT
- LED rear lights
- Black air intake
