Overview

As the 911 changed over to the “991” model, the Boxster also received a face-lift to the 981 model. In 2012, the new Boxster was bigger and more powerful than the previous 987-gen, however only had a small weight increase of approx 35kg. There was an all-new 2.7 litre flat-six developed for this car, standard as a 6-speed manual, with PDK optional extra. There were new technologies available on the car, included Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) and Sports Chrono Package. This model year not only had the option for the 3.4 Boxster S, as the model range was increased to offer a GTS variant.
